Drops, Knitting, Knitwear
When I saw this colour yarn come into the shop I knew I needed to knit something in it. I love pink but I don’t always suit it, the pale pinks often wash me out but the dark raspberry pinks work a lot better for my skin tone. This Drops Air Yarn is in the shade Heather which I think describes it perfectly. It definitely looks like the lovely rich purple pink heather you see starting to bloom this time of year.
Drops Air is a lovely yarn to work with. It’s aran weight so knits up quite quickly on 5mm needles but it is a blown yarn so very lightweight rather than bulky. Blown yarns begin with a mesh tube. Then fibers are ‘blown’ into the tube and catch along the mesh edges of the hollow core. There is no ply or twist to this type of yarn. Drops Air is made of baby alpaca and merino meaning it is super lightweight but incredibly warm and cosy. It is perfect for knitting layering pieces and I really enjoyed working with it.
The pattern I used was the Serene Forest Cardigan which is one of thousands of free patterns off Drops Garn’s website. Each season they release a whole range of new patterns in their yarns, all free of charge. Not only are there yarns a really great price for natural fibres but the patterns are really stylish and free to use! I found it very easy to follow my pattern and I would recommend it for any beginner knitters out there looking for their first in the round cardigan pattern.
We’ve got a huge Drops order coming at the end of this month but to get in early you can shop the Drops pre-order over on our website!
