I’ve been wanting to make a pair of linen trousers for Spring and Summer for a while now so as soon as I saw this gorgeous stonewashed linen come in I knew it would be perfect. I don’t normally wear purple but I really loved this colour and the heavy drape of the fabric was just perfect for the Rose Pant Pattern by Made by Rae. You can make the pattern in three different lengths – short, culottes or full trousers. I opted for the full length as I thought they would get the most wear.
The linen shows off the pleat detail around the waist so well and was the perfect weight for that big waist band. If you want linen trousers, shorts or culottes this is definitely the linen to go for!
When the new Memory Made Lewis and Irene collection fabric came in I totally fell in love with the prints. The collection was designed with makers in mind and all the prints celebrate sewing and knitting. As a sewist and a knitter I knew I had to have some! Looking at the purples I had a feeling this fabric would go perfectly with my trousers so I brought a scrap into store to see.
It was the perfect match and I knew I had to make a blouse for my trousers in it. I chose a firm favourite of mine – the Anthea Blouse. I wanted something that would show off the pattern well and I am so pleased with how it has turned out. From a distance it just looks like a pretty blouse but then you come up close and realise it has all the sewing and crafting details.
I am totally in love with my new purple outfit and I am already thinking of making up more trousers in the stonewashed linen in the other colours we have in store. I also picked up some of the Memory Made fabric in a different colour way so keep an eye out for that coming in the Autumn!
